How to Get Your Marriage Certificate in Queensland
After you get married, the official marriage certificate is ordered from Queensland Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Two important things to know
- The certificate you receive from us on the day is not the official government certificate used for most ID and name-change purposes.
- The official certificate is ordered after your marriage has been registered.
Order direct from Queensland BDM
Use the official Queensland Government website to order the certificate directly:
Do not use third-party commercial certificate sites.
You will usually need
- the names used on the marriage record
- the date of marriage
- the place of marriage
- proof of identity
When can you order it?
After the marriage has been registered.
We handle the lodgement after the marriage, but BDM Queensland controls the registration and certificate issue process.
