Can I Get Married Online?
Short answer
No. You cannot get legally married online in Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast, or anywhere else in Australia.
Australian marriages must happen in person.
What has to happen in person
- both people must be physically present
- the celebrant must be physically present
- two adult witnesses must be physically present
- the legal documents must be signed for the marriage
What can be done remotely
- the booking form
- payment
- preparing the NOIM
- sending copies of documents
- asking questions by email
If you are overseas now
You can still start the process from overseas, including preparing the NOIM and arranging authorised witnessing there.
But the marriage itself must happen in person in Australia.
